I found the first book of the Apothecary series to be beautifully written thoughtfully constructed and generally enchanting but thought that the second book was a bit of a throwaway I was hopeful and a bit nervous to start the third book The After Room was slow starting but once established a worthy end to the series While the second book offered little that was novel or intriguing the idea of the after room offered a compelling core around which this third book was constructed With that said endings are not a strength in this series It always feels to me as though the author suddenly realizes that she is n
